Concept
To create a kinetic installation for Henrik Vibskov’s, 2019 Paris Fashion Week show, referencing a polytunnel, used to propagate vegetables. As the performers walk down the walkway of the tunnel the floor stretches down and the ribs are squeezed as if those inside are being pushed through a giant polytunnel oesophagus.

Developed Design
The design comprised of a static structural frame holding 183 plastic bulbs with a radish plant in each, and a tube of perspex ribs - each suspended by elastic so that it would gently contort as performers walked through the tunnel.

The installation had to be designed to be collapsible as all parts had to fit in a lift to be built and disassembled in a day on the 9th floor of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris.

Each of the 183 Radish propagation bulbs, had an LED strip installed. These were programmed by a lighting designer to pulse and fade in correspondence with the catwalk performance.
